Stone Circle was made from volcanic pumice stones at Lake Taupo New Zealand.

By piercing each stone with a willow stick I was able to gather them into a line on the stick which I bent, then pushed each end into the shallow lake bed to form a semicircle.

By placing the camera at water level the sculpture reflected to complete the circle in the final image. Backlit by the early morning sunlight on the calm lake the result was so strong that it became my most famous landart work and has been published many times, the most significant to me being the cover of this conference publication by Yale School of Forestry and Environment:
