Sculpture No 11

Yasur Volcano, Tanna Island, Vanuatu. June 25th  2018

We installed the sculpture on the crater rim of Yasur Volcano, Tanna Island Vanuatu. It was constructed from banyan tree roots harvested from the jungle below and carried up by locals  where we erected it above of the erupting volcano. Explosive lava bombs, ash and gas belched forth continuously. The sculpture was silhouetted against the red hot lava and a starry sky.
