These leaves from the mahoe tree, a native New Zealand species, begin to decay on the forest floor leaving a delicate lacy structure. Here they are laid on a slow moving stream, at Karekare Beach on the West Coast in Auckland, New Zealand, held together only by water. It lasted only about ten seconds before dispersing
